When Sitaare Zameen Par debuted in August 2025, it was initially declared that the film wouldn’t be accessible on any streaming services after its theatrical run. However, as it gears up for its OTT debut, Aamir Khan recently disclosed that an online release has always been in the plans. He emphasized that while he envisioned a digital release, he preferred it to happen after some time post-theatrical showing.
In an interview with PTI, Aamir stated, “I was never uncertain about this. I always aimed for an OTT release, but not immediately after the theatrical launch. It’s set to stream on SonyLIV on April 3, and I want audiences nationwide to experience the film. Those who missed it in theaters can now enjoy it on SonyLIV.”
Moreover, Aamir shared that alongside the film, the streaming service will also feature a documentary titled Sitaaron Ke Sitaare. This documentary shines a light on the real-life parents of the neurodivergent actors who played significant roles in the film.
Discussing the concept behind the documentary, Aamir explained, “It’s a remarkable piece of content as it focuses on the real heroes. While the Sitaare are the stars, the true champions are the parents of these 10 artists who have nurtured and supported them. The film genuinely highlights the fact that these parents are the real superstars.”
A few days ago, Aamir Khan’s production team confirmed that Sitaare Zameen Par, which initially bypassed an OTT release, will soon be available for streaming on SonyLIV.
Alongside Aamir Khan, the film features Genelia Deshmukh in a key role, and showcases 10 debutant neurodivergent actors: Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishnan Varma, Vedant Sharma, Naman Misra, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Ashish Pendse, Samvit Desai, Simran Mangeshkar, and Aayush Bhansali. This 2025 film is considered a spiritual sequel to the acclaimed 2007 movie Taare Zameen Par, and it achieved an impressive worldwide gross of Rs 265 crore, marking it as one of the highest-grossing films of the previous year.
