Vedang Raina is making headlines as the lead in Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming film, Main Vaapas Aaunga. Recently, he shared insights about his collaboration with the renowned filmmaker and his experiences with legendary actor Naseeruddin Shah.
While Vedang remained tight-lipped about his character, he referred to the experience as an “experience of a lifetime.” He expressed, “This journey has truly spoiled me as an actor. Imtiaz Ali has a unique ability to draw out the best in you without you even realizing it. And working alongside Naseer sir, who is nothing short of a legend, was invaluable. I made it a point to observe him closely and absorbed lessons I’ll cherish forever.”
Additionally, Raina emphasized his willingness to explore various genres, refusing to confine himself to one category. “I’m not putting myself in a box. If a script speaks to me and stirs my heart, I’m all in. I’m still learning, but I feel I’m gaining more control over my choices. While I usually go with the flow, I’m also becoming more proactive in my journey.”
Over the past few years, Vedang has carved out a niche for himself as a promising newcomer. He mentioned that he no longer dwells on being an “outsider.” “It’s been a few years now, and I rarely think about it. I feel fortunate to be in this position, especially since so few get such opportunities in the industry. I intend to make the most of it,” he stated.
Regarding Main Vaapas Aaunga, the teaser hints at a narrative spanning two timelines, weaving a love story set against the backdrop of India’s Partition. Diljit Dosanjh serves as the narrator, linking the past with the present, while Naseeruddin Shah appears to be grappling with age-related health issues, indicating that Vedang may portray his younger self.
In this film, Vedang Raina will take on the role of a turbaned Sardarji, alongside a stellar cast that includes Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari Wagh, and Naseeruddin Shah. Directed by Imtiaz Ali, Main Vaapas Aaunga is set to hit theaters on June 12.
