As anticipation for Ranbir Kapoor’s first look as Rama in Nitesh Tiwary’s much-anticipated film Ramayana grew, his absence from the lavish media event on Hanuman Jayanti left fans and journalists puzzled. The unveiling of his portrayal as Lord Rama took place earlier in the day, with a media gathering featuring director Nitesh Tiwary and producer Namit Malhotra. Despite the event being filled with cameras and eager reporters looking to catch a glimpse of the star, Ranbir was conspicuously absent.
Interestingly, just the night before, he had attended a selective screening with chosen media representatives, sparking curiosity about the change in his engagement. Adding to the intrigue, Ranbir had participated in an event in Los Angeles promoting the film earlier, which further fueled speculation.
This absence was particularly notable given the significance of the reveal, raising questions about why he missed such a pivotal moment. The film boasts a star-studded cast, including Sai Pallavi, Yash, Ravie Dubey, Sunny Deol, Lara Dutta, and Amitabh Bachchan.
Nitesh Tiwary’s Ramayana aims to deliver a grand retelling of the classic epic, with plans for a two-part live-action cinematic experience. The project features musical legends Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman collaborating on the score, while Hollywood stunt directors Terry Notary (known for Avengers and Planet of the Apes) and Guy Norris (Mad Max: Fury Road) are set to choreograph the film’s breathtaking battle sequences.
Filmed for IMAX, Ramayana is slated for a global release, with Part 1 expected to hit theaters in Diwali 2026 and Part 2 following in Diwali 2027.
