Raghav Chadha, a prominent AAP leader and MP, has been making headlines for his advocacy in the Rajya Sabha. In an unexpected move, the Aam Aadmi Party announced his replacement as deputy leader, officially notifying the Parliament secretariat of this change. The communication also indicated that Chadha would not be allowed to speak in the House.
In response to this development, Chadha shared a reel showcasing the various issues he passionately addressed during his time in Parliament. His wife, actress Parineeti Chopra, publicly expressed her support for him.
The video highlighted several pressing topics, including the financial strain on the middle class, data expiry concerns, the need for paternity leave, excessive bank penalties, food adulteration, hidden charges in telecommunications, airline baggage fees, exam paper leaks, air pollution, removal of GST on health insurance, pricey airport food, exploitation of gig workers, delayed health insurance claims, toll plaza overcharging, and breaches of data privacy, among others.
As the video concluded, Chadha was seen leaving Parliament without a caption, only using an evil eye emoji. Parineeti shared the post on her Instagram Stories to show her unwavering support.
In recent discussions, Chadha focused on the importance of paternity leave, advocating for shared parenting responsibilities. Parineeti reflected on his speech, stating, “My dearest husband, today you spoke not just as an MP, but as the father I witness daily. We’ve talked about how essential it is for both parents to be present for our child. Your words today were not merely policy; they stemmed from your commitment to shared parenting.”
Raghav Chadha has served as a Member of Parliament since April 2022, frequently drawing attention to significant public matters. Recently, he addressed the issue of ‘sarpanch pati,’ where elected women in Panchayat seats often remain powerless, overshadowed by male relatives. He urged the government to empower women representatives to fulfill their intended roles as envisioned by the 73rd Constitutional Amendment.
Additionally, he raised awareness about menstrual hygiene in Parliament, labeling it a crucial health and education issue affecting over 350 million women and girls in India. Chadha emphasized that when a girl misses school due to a lack of sanitary products or facilities, it signifies a broader societal failure.
Earlier this year, during protests by gig workers, he took on the role of a delivery partner for a day to gain firsthand insight into the challenges faced by workers in that sector.
