Mumbai, 10th July 2025
In a shocking turn of events that raises serious concerns about the reliability of electric vehicles in India, Randeep Gujral, a popular digital influencer known as @turbanmirchie with over 308,000 followers, has publicly called out Tata Motors over a series of severe failures with his Tata Nexon EV — including an incident that led to a medical emergency involving his senior citizen father.

Addressing the media in a press conference held in Mumbai, Gujral shared a harrowing account of how his father took the Nexon EV out for charging on 9th July 2025 with 23% battery charge, only to witness it drop to 0% within just 1 kilometer, leaving him stranded in the middle of the road. The sudden breakdown caused panic and a spike in blood pressure to 185/150, leading to a medical emergency.

“My father is a senior citizen. He panicked, had severe anxiety, and was stranded for more than 30 minutes without any help from Tata’s Roadside Assistance team,” said Randeep. “His BP went dangerously high. Thankfully, our society’s doctor could intervene in time, but this could have turned fatal.”

Gujral, who has been an ardent supporter of electric vehicles and the “Make in India” initiative, has promoted the Tata Nexon EV across multiple social media platforms, generating millions of views. However, this recent string of failures has left him questioning the credibility and after-sales support of Tata Motors.

Gujral further stated, “I have always stood by the government’s vision for a greener India and supported Hon’ble Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari ji’s push for electric vehicles. I have promoted EVs on my platforms with full faith in the ecosystem. Today, I appeal to the Government of India and the Ministry of Road Transport to intervene and ensure that the concerns of genuine customers are addressed. I also humbly request the support of Maharashtra’s Hon’ble Transport Minister, Shri Sarnaik Sir, to look into this matter. My father, a senior citizen, suffered immensely due to the poor quality and sudden failure of Tata’s EV product. His blood pressure shot up dangerously due to the trauma and stress caused by being stranded without support. Had help not arrived, his health could have seriously deteriorated. This isn’t just a product failure — it’s a humanitarian concern.”

We trusted Tata and Keshva Motors, but both have failed us,” said Randeep Gujral’s father. “The vehicle clearly has a fault, but neither the dealership nor the company is ready to take responsibility. We feel completely cheated.

He also highlighted another previous incident in which he and his family were stranded for over four hours in Mumbai due to battery issues, with zero response from Tata’s support team. Additionally, he claims the car is currently experiencing severe battery degradation, offering less than 10–12 km of range even at 25% charge, and the service center has told him it will take 15 days just to diagnose the issue.

“I promoted this car because I trusted the brand. But after being mentally harassed, stranded without help, and now seeing my own father suffer, I feel not just cheated — but responsible for misleading thousands of my own followers,” said an emotional Gujral.
