Following the tremendous success of ‘Dhurandhar 2’, Arjun Rampal attended an event where his closing remark, ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, drew sharp criticism from renowned author Shobhaa De. In response to the backlash, Rampal’s girlfriend, Gabriella Demetriades, voiced her support, labeling the critique as absurd. Many on social media echoed her sentiments.
At a recent awards ceremony, Rampal concluded his speech with the patriotic phrase, which didn’t sit well with De, who published an article condemning the actor’s comments. Gabriella, clearly agitated by the writer’s opinion, took to Instagram to express her outrage, commenting, “This is outrageous (sic).”
One Instagram user defended Rampal, questioning how such a statement could be considered controversial. They remarked, “Wow, how does someone saying ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ become problematic to you guys? This is literally nationalism, irrespective of any religious agenda. How does being patriotic to the country one resides in become a point of contention for a select few? This is seriously mind-boggling (sic).”
