Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh’s much-anticipated film Alpha was originally set to hit theaters last year, but its release has now been postponed to April this year, with a new date confirmed for July. Amidst multiple delays, speculation surrounding the film has run rampant on social media. As the first female-led spy drama in the YRF Spy Universe, Alpha’s development has been closely watched, especially following the lukewarm reception of War 2, which led to whispers that the project was under review.
On Monday, the team behind Alpha unveiled a fresh release date along with a teaser poster, officially locking in July 10 for its theatrical debut. The film will also feature performances from Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol.
In response to the swirling rumors, writer Ishita Moitra took to her Instagram Stories to address the chatter, particularly the discussions happening on Reddit. Sharing the announcement post, she humorously urged followers to “use your brain” and not get swayed by online speculation.
Ishita Moitra, celebrated for her work on films such as Always Kabhi Kabhi (2011) and the upcoming Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023), stands behind the dialogue of Alpha.
The film’s teaser poster, shared across the official social media accounts, showcases a striking image of Alia Bhatt, with only her eye and a bruised face partially visible, evoking a sense of intrigue. The design emphasizes dark and metallic gold tones, featuring an “A” rendered in Greek letters, alongside the names of Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol, and the release date “10.07.26 – Only in Cinemas.”
This project marks Alia’s debut with Yash Raj Films and represents a significant milestone as India’s first action film led by female protagonists. Directed by Shiv Rawail, known for YRF’s acclaimed series The Railway Men, Alpha is produced by Aditya Chopra. Initially slated for a December 25, 2025 release, the film faced delays but the latest announcement aims to quell all speculation. In this upcoming spy thriller, Alia and Sharvari are set to engage in an intense showdown with Bobby Deol, promising an action-packed experience for audiences.
