Janhvi Kapoor, the talented actress, has become familiar with the harsh realities of online trolling. While she often handles it with grace, she understands the importance of addressing it head-on. In a recent interview, she shed light on the issue of online harassment, expressing her concern over how some trolling can become downright cruel. She also voiced her dismay regarding her brother, Arjun Kapoor, who has been subjected to relentless online mockery, which she believes is completely unwarranted.
In a chat with Grazia, Janhvi shared her thoughts on the phenomenon of trolling among celebrities. She noted that many people engage in this behavior for the sake of gaining attention and virality, rather than out of any real animosity towards the individual being targeted. “From what I see in the social media landscape, many users are chasing views and notoriety. If they’re creating content about you, you’re merely a pawn in their game—used for clickbait or outrage to drive engagement. When you view it through that lens, you realize their comments are more about them than you, which helps in not taking them to heart,” she explained.
Janhvi emphasized that there’s no reason to dwell on such negativity. “Everyone is just trying to get by in life—everyone’s got their struggles. It’s essential to be transactional in this environment; nothing is truly profound. Getting upset about it for longer than a few minutes is just pointless.”
However, she acknowledged that when trolling escalates to bullying, it can have a detrimental effect, especially on her brother Arjun. “It’s painful to see someone you care about being misunderstood or bullied online. There’s absolutely no justification for that behavior. Negativity breeds more negativity, and sometimes the best approach is to distance yourself from it,” she remarked.
On the professional front, Janhvi Kapoor recently starred in “Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari” alongside Varun Dhawan, Rohit Saraf, and Sanya Malhotra. She is set to appear next in “Peddi,” featuring Ram Charan and directed by Buchi Babu, with a release date planned for May this year.
