Monalisa Bhosale, who captured the spotlight during the 2025 Prayagraj Kumbh Mela, has ignited a significant controversy with her allegations against film director Sanoj Mishra. She claims he misbehaved with her and several underage girls under the pretense of casting them in films. At a press conference in Kochi, attended by her husband, Farman Khan, Monalisa revealed that they are facing death threats and urged support from the governments of Kerala and Madhya Pradesh.
According to a report by PTI, Monalisa and Farman expressed their fears for their safety, mentioning that her posters were being burned. She accused Sanoj Mishra of tarnishing her reputation, asserting that he refused to cast her in his films. Monalisa recounted instances of harassment on film sets while she was still a minor, stating he inappropriately touched her during the filming of “The Diary of Manipur” in locations like Nepal and Dehradun before she turned 18, actions she believes fall under the POCSO Act.
“Who would want to work with him? He’s a vile person who preys on young girls under the guise of filmmaking. It’s embarrassing to even say his name,” she expressed tearfully. Monalisa revealed that she confided in her family about the harassment, but they advised her against taking action, citing it was her first film.
In addition to her allegations, Monalisa accused Mishra of spreading false narratives about her marriage to Farman, labeling it ‘love jihad’ to incite communal tensions. “We married in a temple according to Hindu customs, and everyone knows that. He wants to stir up extremism and division among people. I respect all faiths,” she asserted. Farman echoed her sentiments, stating that Mishra referred to him as a “terrorist” due to his dissatisfaction with their marriage.
About Monalisa Bhosale: Initially a garland seller from Indore, Monalisa gained attention on social media for her remarkable looks when a content creator filmed her selling handcrafted malas and rudraksha beads at the Kumbh Mela. The clip went viral, leading to comparisons with Leonardo Da Vinci’s iconic painting. Recently, she and Farman eloped to Kerala for their wedding, as her parents opposed their inter-religious union. She has now returned to Thiruvananthapuram for a film shoot.
