The National Commission for Women (NCW) has called upon actors Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt, along with others, regarding the ongoing controversy surrounding the song “Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke.” Exercising its authority under the National Commission for Women Act of 1990, the Commission has taken note of media reports that suggest the song may contain elements of obscenity and vulgarity.

The NCW stated that the song’s content appears to be sexually suggestive and objectionable, potentially violating various laws, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Information Technology Act of 2000, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act of 2012.

In addition to Nora and Sanjay, the summons also extend to lyricist Raqueeb Alam, producer Venkat K Narayana from KVN Group, and director Kiran Kumar. They are required to present themselves before the Commission on March 24, 2026, at 12:30 PM, along with any necessary documentation.

The Commission has warned that failing to attend could lead to legal consequences.

Previously, on March 17, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) also issued a notice regarding the song’s alleged inappropriate and suggestive lyrics from the film KD – The Devil.

Nora Fatehi has since addressed the controversy in a video statement. She shared that she is currently coping with a personal loss while facing the backlash. Nora explained, “I shot this song three years ago in Kannada, which is part of the Sandalwood industry. I agreed to it because it was a big film featuring an iconic actor like Sanjay Dutt. Who would refuse such an opportunity?”

At the time of filming, Nora did not understand the language and did not perceive the lyrics as inappropriate. She expressed her frustration over the song’s launch, recalling how she was shocked by AI-generated images of herself and Dutt. “At the launch event, I noticed the Kannada version, which I had issues with because they released it without my approval, using unflattering photos. I typically approve all my pictures, so this was upsetting.”

Nora further stated that she distanced herself from the project once she became aware of the Hindi version, anticipating potential backlash, which is why she chose not to promote the song.
