Renowned filmmaker Priyadarshan, known for hits like Hera Pheri, Hungama, and Hulchul, is on the brink of directing the sequel to Bhoot Police. While he’s busy with his current projects, Bhooth Bangla and Haiwaan, fans are eager for his return to Hera Pheri 3. Reports suggest that Priyadarshan is preparing to helm Bhoot Police 2 and is set to command a staggering fee of Rs 21 crore for the venture.
According to Pinkvilla, a source revealed, “The sequel will maintain its horror-comedy essence, but the cast will undergo a significant change. Saif Ali Khan and Arjun Kapoor won’t be returning. Instead, the production team is looking to introduce a fresh duo that can inject new energy into the franchise.”
The source further elaborated, “The goal is to reinvent the series with a combination of one senior and one junior actor to create a dynamic pairing. It will stay true to the horror-comedy genre while offering a more theatrical presentation.”
In terms of Priyadarshan’s upcoming projects, Bhooth Bangla has officially set its release date for May 15, 2026. This film reunites the master of horror-comedies, Priyadarshan, with Akshay Kumar, marking their first collaboration in 14 years. Fans can anticipate a delightful mix of chills and laughs, featuring a stellar cast that includes Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Jisshu Sengupta, Asrani, and Wamiqa Gabbi.
On another front, Haiwaan is an upcoming Hindi thriller starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, set to hit theaters in 2026. This film is a remake of the critically acclaimed Malayalam thriller, Oppam, and features prominent roles for Shriya Pilgaonkar and Saiyami Kher. Filming commenced in August, and it’s worth noting that Saif and Akshay last collaborated in the commercially unsuccessful Tashan. Haiwaan is produced by KVN Productions alongside Thespian Films, with joint production from Venkat K Narayana and Shailaja Desai Fenn.
