On April 6, as the world celebrated the 95th birth anniversary of legendary Bengali actress Suchitra Sen, her granddaughter Raima Sen honored her memory in a heartfelt way. Raima took to social media to unveil a stunning recreation of her grandmother’s vintage look, reminiscent of Suchitra’s glamorous days in cinema.

In a captivating black and white image, Raima showcased a classic retro hairstyle featuring a neatly styled, slightly puffed ponytail. Her makeup, with dark lips, defined eyeliner, and elegantly overlined eyebrows, perfectly complemented her outfit—a white, high-collared Victorian blouse adorned with delicate lace details.

Raima shared the image with a poignant caption: “In loving memory of my Amma.”

Earlier that day, Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff also paid tribute to Suchitra Sen, sharing a beautiful portrait of the iconic actress on his social media. He captioned it, ‘Remembering Suchitra Sen on her birth anniversary,’ and set the mood with the haunting melody of ‘Rahe Na Rahe Hum’ from the classic film Mamta, which starred Suchitra alongside Sanjeev Kumar.

Suchitra Sen, who graced the cinematic landscape from the 1950s to the 1970s, is celebrated as the ‘Mahanayika’ of Bengali cinema. Her legendary pairings with Uttar Kumar led to the creation of 30 memorable films together, including classics like Sharey Chuatter (1953), Agni Pariksha (1954), Saptapadi (1961), and Jiban Trishna (1956).

Making her Bollywood debut in Devdas (1955) opposite Dilip Kumar, Suchitra earned accolades and was nominated for a Filmfare Best Actress Award for her roles in Mamta (1966) and Aandhi (1975). She was the matriarch of a talented lineage, being the mother of actress Moonmoon Sen and the grandmother of actresses Raima and Rimi Sen. Suchitra Sen passed away on January 17, 2014, leaving behind a remarkable legacy.

Moonmoon Sen has followed in her mother’s footsteps, establishing herself as a notable figure in Indian cinema across various regional films. Meanwhile, Raima Sen has been captivating audiences for nearly two decades with performances in films like Parineeta, Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd., and The Japanese Wife.
