Salman Khan Films has officially rebranded its eagerly awaited project, formerly known as Battle of Galwan, to Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace. The creative team behind the Salman Khan-led film revealed an eye-catching new poster alongside this significant title change, which carries a poignant message relevant to contemporary society.
The essence of the new title is captured in the impactful tagline, “May War Rest in Peace,” reflecting Salman Khan’s courageous and thoughtful stance. While the film is inspired by the historical events in Galwan Valley, the title’s meaning transcends mere conflict. With Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace, Salman Khan aims to strike a chord with viewers, prompting discussions on social media where many have lauded the sentiment and the bold perspective it embodies. Interestingly, the newly released poster does not specify a release date, suggesting that rumors of a possible delay may hold some truth.
Release Date Uncertainty for Battle of Galwan?
According to a report from Bollywood Hungama, there are indications that the film’s release might be delayed as the shooting is still ongoing. A source mentioned, “Battle of Galwan was initially slated for an April 17 release, but filming is not yet complete, and reshoots are taking longer than anticipated.” The team had aimed to finalize filming by the end of February, but this timeline was disrupted due to Salim Khan’s unexpected health issues.
In addition to completing the shoot, the filmmakers must also seek approval from the Ministry of Defence as part of standard procedure. The insider added, “Given these factors, the producers believe they may not meet the April 17 deadline. Salman Khan feels that a film of this nature, celebrating patriotism, deserves careful attention. He has advised the team to take their time to ensure the final product is compelling, visually striking, and of high cinematic quality.”
Inspired by the real-life clashes between Indian and Chinese forces in Galwan Valley on the night of June 15-16, 2020, the film has stirred up discussions, particularly following the teaser’s release, which alleged misrepresentation by Chinese media. Neither Salman Khan nor director Apoorva Lakhia has addressed the controversy publicly.
The cast also includes Chitrangada Singh in a pivotal role, alongside Zeyn Shaw, Ankur Bhatia, Abhilash Chaudhary, Vipin Bhardwaj, and Heera Sohal.
