South Africa is all set to lock horns with England in the ODI Women`s World Cup 2025 match on Thursday at the Assam Cricket Association Stadium in Guwahati.
The South Africans had managed to reach the semi-finals of the previous two editions of the ODI World Cups. The side also finished as the runners-up in consecutive T20 World Cups.
The Proteas` top order consists of the likes of Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits. The duo seems to be in great touch in white-ball cricket and will look to continue on their momentum.
Marizanne Kapp, the heartbeat of the team with her all-round skills, remains central to their balance.
On the other hand, the England team features players like Heather Knight and skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt.
The side also boasts a strong batting line-up with Amy Jones and Tammy Beaumont.
Meanwhile, the previous match played in Guwahati saw the Indian women`s cricket team secure a dominating win by 59 runs against the Sri Lankan women`s cricket team. Deepti Sharma and Amanjot Kaur registered half-centuries each to their names.
Facing 53 balls, Sharma garnered 53 runs, including three boundaries, while Amanjot scored 57 runs off 56 balls, with the help of five boundaries and a maximum.
In response, Sri Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu played a knock of 43 runs off 47 balls, including four boundaries and three maximums.
However, the Lankan skipper`s knock was not enough to help her team cruise to victory. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led Team India won their tournament-opening match by 59 runs through the (Duckworth-Lewis-Stern) DLS method.
