Australia has always been one of the greatest cricketing nations since the time when the game was invented. From Ricky Ponting to Don Bradman, the Australian team never fell short of producing legendary cricketers.

On the occasion of his 39th birthday, one such cricketer in the modern-day game is David Warner. Although the left-hander has already drawn curtains on his international career, his legacy remains unmatched.

Considering his explosive approach with the willow at the top, Warner is referred to as the “Australian Bull”. His presence in the team often provided stability to Australia across all three formats of the game.

Since his retirement, the Aussies have been struggling to find his replacement at the top order. One of the Australian stalwarts, Steve Smith, also tried filling in the shoes of Warner, but tasted limited success at the top.

In the year 2016, the former left-hander smashed seven centuries in One-Day Internationals (ODIs). Following his successful year in the format, Warner is placed in the second position on the list of players to have scored the most centuries in a calendar year.

He is also placed second on the list of players to collect the most player of the series award in T20Is. In his career of 110 T20I matches, the former left-hander won five “Player of the series” awards.

David Warner featured in 112 Test matches for Australia and has garnered 8786 runs, with a top score of an unbeaten 335 runs. He also smashed 26 tons and 37 half-centuries in the format.

Having made 161 ODI appearances, the former left-hander accumulated 6932 runs. His career best score in the 50-over format is 179 runs. He also registered 22 centuries and 33 half-centuries to his name.

The New South Wales-born cricketer also donned the Australian T20I jersey on 110 occasions. He scored 3277 runs, including a century and 28 half-centuries. His highest score in the shortest format of the game is an unbeaten 100 runs.

In the current era, like Rohit Sharma, Warner has by far been the best opening batsman in white-ball cricket.
