The ongoing Sanjay Kapur’s inheritance battle between Karisma Kapoor’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, and his wife, Priya Kapur, seems to be getting messier by the day. In a latest development, the kids have now filed a fresh new petition in the Delhi High Court..

Karisma Kapoor`s kids file fresh plea

In the new petition filed against Priya Sachdev, Samaira and Kiaan asked the court to stop her from transferring or altering any of Sunjay’s assets until the matter is resolved. The hearing on this new plea is scheduled to take place on November 20, as more details are awaited.

The new petition comes at a time when the battle over late industrialist Sunjay Kapur’s sprawling estate recently took a sharper turn when the Delhi High Court questioned Priya and the will’s executor, Shraddha Suri Marwah, after they objected to Samaira and Kiaan’s request for a forensic examination of their alleged final testament.

Karisma Kapoor`s kids request forensic examinations

The will as well as the kids` application requesting the forensic inspection, is currently pending with the Joint Registrar of Delhi High Court, Gagandeep Jindal. On November 11, Sunjay’s kids from his second wife, Karisma Kapoor, requested the court for permission to examine the purported original will produced by Priya in court. The kids claimed the alleged will contains several irregularities. However, Priya opposed the request.

The plea by Samaira and Kiaan was heard by the Joint Registrar again on November 17. Subsequently, Priya Sachdev and Shraddha Suri Marwah were directed to file a written reply with reasoning for the objection within three weeks. Meanwhile, the counsels of the kids have been allowed to file any additional submission with regard to the matter during this period. The matter is now scheduled to be heard on December 16.

Samaira and Kiaan’s counsel, Mahesh Jethmalani, also questioned Priya and Shraddha, objecting to the very scrutiny that could confirm the document’s authenticity. According to legal experts, such resistance is unusual, given that the Will in question allows almost the entire estate worth tens of thousands of crores to be handed over to a single beneficiary.

The children’s plea for forensic analysis of the will could indicate several fresh red flags, such as incorrect addresses, gender-reference errors, contradictions with earlier records and digital metadata that could support their claim that the document may have been altered.
