Swarn Katkar’s impressive century propelled VN Sule Guruji English Medium School (Dadar) to a total of 231 for 7 after 80 overs, facing Dnyandeep Seva Mandal (Nerul) on the second day of their three-day Dream Sports Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) inter-school Giles Shield semi-final at Parsee Gymkhana on Tuesday. Starting the day at 19-0, VN Sule’s innings revolved around Katkar’s remarkable knock of 103 runs off 212 balls. He received valuable support from Devang Koli, who scored 43 runs. However, they fell short by 109 runs compared to Dnyandeep’s first innings total of 340, with Nerul’s off-spinner Lavish Singh taking 4 wickets for 63 runs. Dnyandeep then ended the day at 89-0 in 21 overs, with Lavish leading the way with an unbeaten 50 runs. Both teams will have 40 overs to bat in the second innings. In the other semi-final, Swami Vivekanand International School (Borivli) posted 317-5 after 80 overs, while Rizvi Springfield (Bandra) concluded the day at 28-1 after six overs.
