Dnyandeep Seva Mandal (Nerul) has secured a spot in the final of the Dream Sports-Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) Giles Shield inter-school cricket tournament. They triumphed over VN Sule Guruji English Medium School (Dadar) during the decisive third day of the semi-finals held at Parsee Gymkhana on Wednesday.
Dnyandeep clinched victory with a first-innings lead of 109 runs, marking their second consecutive appearance in the Giles Shield final. On the final day, they scored 218 for 7 within the allotted 40 overs, with Neil Naik playing a pivotal role by scoring 89 runs off 110 balls, including 11 boundaries. He received excellent support from Lavish Singh, who contributed 66 runs off 76 balls.
For VN Sule, Jay Mhatre was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 16 runs, while Aaradhya Kadam (2-15) and Sparsh Palhkude (2-25) also made significant contributions. In response, VN Sule managed to reach only 149 for 7, with Devang Koli remaining unbeaten at 63. Dnyandeep’s bowlers, Atharv Kalel (2-17) and Aryan Chauhan (2-17), were instrumental in restricting their opponents’ scoring.
With this win, Dnyandeep is poised for another shot at the championship, showcasing their skill and determination throughout the tournament.
