On Tuesday, Swami Vivekanand International School (SVIS), Borivli, kicked off their campaign in the three-day MSSA Giles Shield final with a robust performance, finishing Day One at 276 all out in 79.2 overs against Dnyandeep Seva Mandal from Nerul, held at the Brabourne Stadium, Churchgate. SVIS won the toss, officiated by chief guest and Indian cricketer Shardul Thakur, and launched into a formidable opening partnership of 149 runs off 250 balls between Kartik Chhajer and Prajwal Taware. Chhajer took the lead with a dynamic 90 runs off 116 balls, hitting 16 boundaries while capitalizing on any loose deliveries early on. Meanwhile, Taware provided stability, scoring a resilient 82 runs from 191 balls, including 12 fours. However, after the opening duo was dismissed, Dnyandeep’s bowlers rallied back effectively. Anup Yadav led the charge with impressive figures of 5 wickets for 76 runs in 20 overs, ably assisted by Atharv Kalel, who took 4 for 66 in 19 overs. At the end of Day One, Dnyandeep Seva Mandal stood at 17 runs without loss after 13 overs.
