Dnyandeep Seva Mandal (Nerul) took charge against Swami Vivekanand International School (SVIS) during the ongoing Dream Sports Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) inter-school three-day Giles Shield final at Brabourne Stadium, Churchgate, on Wednesday, bolstered by remarkable centuries from Anuj Chaudhary and Anup Yadav.
Resuming their innings on Day Two with a score of 17-0 after 13 overs, Dnyandeep forged ahead with a substantial fifth-wicket partnership that decisively shifted the momentum in their favor. They concluded their first innings with an impressive total of 330-5 in the allotted 80 overs. Anup Yadav played a pivotal role, scoring an unbeaten 126 runs off 123 balls, including 19 boundaries and 4 sixes. Anuj Chaudhary also contributed significantly, making 102 runs off 110 balls with 7 fours. Together, they formed a formidable 199-run partnership for the fifth wicket, consuming 192 balls and effectively neutralizing SVIS’s bowling attack.
Openers Atharv Kale and Neil Naik also provided valuable contributions, with Kale scoring a steady 50 off 126 balls and Naik adding a useful 38 off 95 deliveries, ensuring a healthy run rate without taking unnecessary risks.
For SVIS, left-arm spinner Dalvat Kawali was the standout bowler, claiming 3 wickets for 81 runs. Responding to Dnyandeep’s first innings total, SVIS faced immediate pressure in their second innings, losing wickets at regular intervals. By the end of Day 2, they found themselves at 58-5 after 17 overs, trailing by 54 runs. Atul Chaudhary delivered a disciplined bowling performance, taking 2 wickets for 28 runs in 9 overs, while Pranav Raje bowled economically, returning figures of 2-30 from his 8 overs for the Nerul side.
