On Wednesday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) turned down the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) appeal to move its T20 World Cup games to Sri Lanka. The ICC confirmed that the matches will continue as planned, citing no credible safety threats to Bangladesh’s players, officials, or supporters at any of the tournament venues in India. This decision was reached during an ICC Board meeting conducted via video conference, specifically convened to address the BCB’s concerns about venue safety. The ICC stated, “Relocating matches under the current circumstances could compromise the integrity of ICC events and challenge the organization’s neutrality as a global governing body.” After thorough reviews of various security assessments, including independent evaluations, the Board concluded that there was no substantial risk for the Bangladesh squad. According to ICC sources, 14 out of 16 Board members voted against the BCB’s request to change locations. The ICC has granted the BCB an additional day to reconsider and finalize their stance on the matter.
