Yashasvi Jaiswal has been omitted from Mumbai’s squad for their recent Ranji Trophy league match against Delhi. The reason? The Indian opener has been accused of ‘picking and choosing’ which games to participate in, often remaining ‘non-responsive’ during selection discussions, according to a senior official from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) speaking to PTI.

Currently, Jaiswal is not part of the Indian T20I team engaged in a five-match series against New Zealand, nor is he expected to be included in the T20 World Cup next month. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has emphasized the importance of domestic cricket participation for players not on national duty. However, the MCA official revealed that Jaiswal has failed to respond to their inquiries about his availability.

“It’s true he didn’t respond before the selection for the last match against Hyderabad, and it certainly gives the impression that he is selecting matches to play,” the MCA official commented. “We tried to reach out to him before finalizing the team for both the last game and the upcoming one, but received no reply. Consequently, he was not included in the lineup for the home match against Delhi,” they added.
