In a surprising turn of events, the Gujarat Giants ended their eight-match losing streak against the Mumbai Indians, marking their inaugural victory over the reigning champions and securing a spot in the Women’s Premier League playoffs. Despite a commendable effort from Mumbai’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who scored a valiant 82 not out, she expressed disappointment over the lack of backing from her teammates. “We struggled to implement our batting strategy in the initial overs. Losing an early wicket set us back, and we couldn’t accumulate enough runs. We aimed to establish two strong partnerships, but unfortunately, none were impactful,” she shared.
