In a commanding performance, Sri Ma Vidyalaya from Thane triumphed over Bhandup’s Adarsha Vidyalaya High School and Junior College, winning by 10 wickets in the second round of the Mumbai School Sports Association’s Manoramben Apte U-16 girls knockout cricket tournament held at Jolly Gymkhana in Vidyavihar on Wednesday.
Choosing to bat first, Adarsha Vidyalaya faced a tough challenge against a well-organized bowling attack, stumbling to a mere 36 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 10 overs. Only Jivika Chalke, who scored 14 runs, and Aditi Mohite, with 10 runs, managed to reach double figures against the impressive Sri Ma Vidyalaya bowling, spearheaded by Kavya Bhagwat, who claimed 3 wickets for just 10 runs.
In response, the Thane team chased down the modest target with ease, wrapping up the match at 39 runs without losing a wicket in just 2.3 overs, thanks to Vallari Deshmukh’s explosive innings, where she scored an unbeaten 22 runs off just 12 balls.
