As the T20 World Cup 2026 approaches, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav has revealed that the team might opt for two spinners if the situation demands. He praised the talents of Varun Chakaravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav, calling their potential selection a “pleasant dilemma.”

“Having such skilled bowlers in our squad is a significant advantage. However, we must also consider the right combination against each opponent. If the conditions favor the inclusion of two spinners, including wrist spinners, we’ll certainly go for it. Varun and Kuldeep are among the finest spinners globally, creating a delightful challenge for us in selection,” Yadav stated.

He further noted that the team is experiencing another “good headache” with an abundance of left-handed batsmen, including Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma, who are set to open the innings.

“Are you enjoying the boundaries and sixes? This is a positive challenge, and I believe it’s an over-hyped discussion. Players today have faced ample spin bowling in their careers, and they have practiced extensively,” he explained.

Yadav emphasized that each batsman’s role is to contribute to the team’s success, regardless of whether they are facing spinners or pacers.

The T20 World Cup 2026 is set to launch on February 7, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Team India finds itself in Group A, alongside Namibia, the Netherlands, Pakistan, and the USA. The “Men in Blue” will kick off their tournament journey against the USA at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on the opening day.
