On Friday, Captain Suryakumar Yadav expressed that India is open to the idea of fielding both Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav together in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026. He characterized the challenge of selecting between the two talented spinners as a “very good headache.”
“Having such skilled bowlers at our disposal is definitely an advantage. However, we must also consider the right combinations against specific opponents,” Suryakumar stated during a press conference ahead of India’s T20 World Cup match against the USA.
“If the situation calls for two spinners, or even two wrist spinners, we won’t hesitate to go for it. Options like Varun and Kuldeep, who are among the world’s finest spinners, are fantastic to have,” he added.
The Indian captain also mentioned concerns regarding pacer Harshit Rana, who sustained a knee injury during a warm-up match against South Africa. “Harshit hasn’t been ruled out yet; the physios are evaluating him, but he doesn’t seem to be in great shape,” he noted.
