Cricket enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the fierce showdown between traditional rivals India and Pakistan in Sri Lanka. This thrilling encounter is scheduled for February 15 at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.
Pakistan’s batsman Sahibzada Farhan regards the clash with India as merely another game, but he emphasized that the ‘Green Shirts’ will approach it with a refreshed attitude.
“When you win a couple of matches and sit atop the table, it boosts your confidence. This match isn’t a monumental event; it’s not our first encounter. We’ve played them before and this time, we’ll adopt a different mindset. You must have noticed Shadab (Khan) and (Mohammad) Nawaz scoring runs. So, we hope you enjoy our game against them,” he stated.
Farhan reiterated, “It’s just a regular match for us. We aren’t going to let the significance of an India-Pakistan game weigh on us; we’ll treat it like any other match.”
In their previous meetings during the Asia Cup 2025, India emerged victorious in all matches, including the final. Following these results, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav suggested that the rivalry may have lost its edge.
Farhan disagreed, expressing his desire to showcase competitive cricket on February 15. “I believe our performance in the last Asia Cup was not one-sided. We fought until the very end, and I expect the same intensity this time around,” he remarked.
When asked about strategies to counter India’s leading pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah, he responded, “Confidence comes from scoring runs. I feel quite confident, especially after my last two innings.”
As for the current standings in the T20 World Cup 2026, Pakistan is leading Group A with two wins and a net run rate (NRR) of +0.932, accumulating four points. Meanwhile, the ‘Men in Blue’ sit in second place with one victory from one match and a net run rate (NRR) of +1.450.
