Namibia is gearing up to face Team India in their T20 World Cup 2026 showdown, set to take place on Thursday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Ahead of this highly anticipated clash, Namibia’s captain, Gerhard Erasmus, voiced his disappointment about missing out on a night training session before the match. He noted that, aside from those who have participated in leagues like the Nepal Premier League and ILT20, most players rarely have the opportunity to train under lights.

“We lack proper lighting facilities in Namibia, which presents a significant challenge for us. It’s not just a minor issue. Except for the players who have experience in leagues or World Cups, our guys seldom get to train in conditions with artificial lights,” Erasmus commented.

Despite this setback, the skipper remains optimistic, stating that his team will stick to their unique ‘Namibian’ style of play. “It’s unfortunate that we didn’t have a night training session before this game. I’m not sure why that is the case. I see India has had two night sessions, and Canada is currently having one. But we’ll show up and play our Namibian way, which is to fight hard,” he added.

Currently, India holds the second position in Group A with a net run rate (NRR) of +1.450 and two points, while Namibia finds itself in fourth place with an NRR of -1.033. Fans are also curious to see if Team India’s Abhishek Sharma will participate in the match, as he was recently hospitalized due to a stomach infection.
