Reflecting on his innings, Hope emphasized his commitment to contributing to the team’s success. “I always aim to make a significant impact. If I’m scoring runs, I’m helping the team. Today, I felt we did well, and I wanted to elevate our performance further in the second half,” he shared.
Following Hope’s standout knock, Roston Chase, Sherfane Rutherford, and Matthew Forde also made valuable contributions, leading the West Indies to a total of 165 runs for the loss of six wickets in their 20 overs.
For Italy, bowlers Benjamin Manenti and Crishan Kalugamage each took two wickets, while Ali Hasan and Thomas Draca added one wicket apiece. JJ Smuts and Grant Stewart were unable to take any wickets during the match.
Chasing a target of 166, Italy faltered and was bowled out for 123 runs in just 18 overs. Benjamin Manenti was the top scorer for the Italians, managing 26 runs from 21 balls, including two boundaries and a six. Smuts contributed 24 runs off 27 balls, with three boundaries to his name.
West Indies’ Shamar Joseph shone with the ball, claiming four wickets for 30 runs in his four-over spell. Matthew Forde also impressed, taking three wickets for just 19 runs. Gudakesh Motie and Akeal Hosein chipped in with two and one wickets, respectively, while Jason Holder went wicketless.
