As Pakistan prepares to face England in the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2026 on February 24 at Kandy’s Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, all eyes will be on in-form batsman Sahibzada Farhan. Leading the tournament with 220 runs over five matches, Farhan is expected to play a crucial role against the English side. When questioned about the possibility of surpassing Virat Kohli’s record of 319 runs—the highest ever in T20 World Cup history—Farhan maintained that personal statistics are not his priority.
‘Honestly, I don’t focus on statistics or records. Even when I perform well, I hear about how many sixes I’ve hit or runs I’ve scored, but that’s not my concern,’ he stated.
Farhan emphasized the importance of team success over individual accolades: ‘Taking risks is essential in T20. If you burden yourself with the pressure of breaking records, remember they are meant to be broken. My goal is simply to help Pakistan succeed.’
The 29-year-old cricketer also expressed confidence in facing England’s Jofra Archer, noting that his team has experience dealing with fast bowlers: ‘Facing Archer isn’t daunting; we’ve faced him before. We have our own bowlers who bowl at similar speeds. While they will have their strategies, so will I. It should be a thrilling match.’
Kohli’s Record: A Quick Recap
In the 2024 T20 World Cup, Kohli amassed 319 runs in six games, boasting an impressive average of 106.33 and four half-centuries—the highest tally in the tournament’s history.
