Actress Bhumi Pednekar recently shared her experiences with body-related comments on social media, reflecting on the bullying she faced during her school years. During an intimate conversation with Barkha Dutt at the Women of Impact event, Bhumi recounted how she dealt with body-shaming remarks throughout her life.

As she delved into her childhood memories, Bhumi recalled a particularly painful incident: “I vividly remember going back to class and discovering a note with ‘BBB’ written on it. It took me a moment to realize it stood for ‘big boobs Bhumi.’ Such remarks can leave a lasting impact on a young mind.”

When discussing her career choices, the actress emphasized the importance of integrity in the roles she accepts, stating, “I will never compromise on portraying characters that disrespect my gender. I’d prefer to have fewer opportunities than to be part of something that undermines women. I’ve worked tirelessly to carve out a space defined by my performances.”

Ayesha Khan, also present at the Women of Impact event, joined Bhumi in discussing issues like body shaming and sexual objectification. The Dhurandhar actress shared a personal experience of being dropped from a T-Series project due to her body size, alongside the harassment she faces on social media.

“I deal with constant sexualization of my posts on Instagram. Whether I wear a simple top or a skirt, someone always has an issue. It’s unfortunate that I have to censor myself before posting anything,” she expressed. Ayesha further highlighted the disturbing reality of receiving daily threats, urging for stricter measures to tackle such behavior, saying, “This problem has persisted for far too long, and it’s high time for serious action.”
