As Team India prepares to face off against England in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2026, set to take place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 5, concerns loom over the team’s recent bowling performances. Morne Morkel, India’s bowling coach, highlighted the problem of bowlers conceding excessive runs.

“It’s not just about reaching the semifinals; it’s about how we perform in the next two matches. You can’t expect to bowl out your opponents for just 120 runs every time,” Morkel remarked.

He expressed optimism that the upcoming match against England will be a high-scoring contest, noting, “We frequently discuss fielding; at times, we give away 15-20 runs, which is an area we need to improve. We anticipate a good wicket that will facilitate a high-scoring game.”

Morkel emphasized the importance of being present and competitive with every delivery, acknowledging that the margins for error are slim in such crucial matches.

In preparation for the clash, Team India players arrived at the venue for a practice session. The management is particularly keen on Abhishek Sharma stepping up against the formidable English side. Despite playing six matches and scoring only 80 runs, with a highest score of 55, Sharma is expected to make a significant impact.

Conversely, Ishan Kishan has been performing well, having scored 224 runs in seven matches, including a top score of 77. Despite his success, he has been moved to the number three slot, while Sanju Samson has been elevated to open alongside Sharma.

Additionally, Axar Patel, who supports Suryakumar Yadav, is also anticipated to contribute vital runs down the order and secure crucial wickets for the ‘Men in Blue’ during this pivotal semi-final.
