As Team India prepares to face England in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2026 on March 5 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, former cricketer Dinesh Karthik has voiced his thoughts on the pressure the team might face. He pointed out that with the tournament taking place on home soil and India being the defending champions, expectations are high. “It’s a home World Cup. India are the defending champions and undoubtedly the team everyone is eager to beat, given their strong performance leading into the tournament. This creates added pressure as they start the match knowing they’re expected to win,” Karthik explained. He noted that while England has had some struggles in Mumbai, they might approach the game with less at stake compared to India. Karthik emphasized the importance of consistency in the lineup, specifically urging the management to maintain trust in the top order comprising Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, and Ishan Kishan. “In a major tournament like the World Cup, it’s crucial to back the players who have led you this far. Sticking with Abhishek, Sanju, and Ishan will provide the confidence needed for success on such a big day,” the 40-year-old stated. On the flip side, England will be counting on their star batsman Jos Buttler to deliver his best performance against the Indian side.
