Jos Buttler faced a challenging T20 World Cup 2026, scoring just 87 runs across eight innings. Despite this struggle, the seasoned batsman is hopeful about securing a spot in England’s national team. “I hope so. I don’t know. Obviously, I had a disappointing tournament, but I’ve been playing some of the best cricket of my career recently. I aim to get back to my best,” he shared on the podcast ‘For the Love of Cricket’.

The 35-year-old cricketer acknowledged his aspirations to continue representing England but noted that without the captaincy, he lacks influence over team selection. “What will be, will be. Let’s wait and see,” he added.

Reflecting on his World Cup performance, Buttler expressed his frustration: “There are aspects of what went wrong that I still can’t pinpoint. I put in the effort and had the best intentions, but sometimes things just don’t click, and that’s okay. It’s a lesson I’ve had to learn.”

Buttler is set to return to competitive cricket in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he will play for the Gujarat Titans (GT). The IPL 2026 season kicks off on March 28, with the first match featuring the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

The Gujarat Titans will launch their IPL 2026 journey on March 31 against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.
