As ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ continues to make waves at the box office, fans are eagerly dissecting every detail of the film and drawing connections to real life. In an intriguing twist, a doctor from Ludhiana has gained a bit of Bollywood recognition following his unexpected casting in the movie. This physician was brought to the set to treat Arjun Rampal after he suffered a head injury during filming.
Dr. Sunny Ashok, who works at a government health facility in Kalakh village, was called to the set after the accident occurred on July 8, 2025. For those unaware, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ was filmed in various locations across Punjab, including a railway track near Ludhiana and Shahnewal Airport. Arjun, portraying ISI agent Major Iqbal, injured himself during an intense chase scene.
In an interview with The Tribune, Dr. Ashok recounted the chaotic moment: “There was a lot of concern that Arjun might need scans and hospitalization. Thankfully, the injury wasn’t serious. I checked his reflexes, and everyone was relieved that he was alright.”
Three days later, the film crew invited Dr. Ashok back to the set on the night of July 11 during a shoot at Shahnewal Airport. All he wanted was a photo with Ranveer Singh. “I asked for a picture, and he jokingly said, ‘Why just a photo? We’ll include you in the movie!’ I thought he was kidding,” Dr. Ashok said.
Director Aditya Dhar quickly embraced the idea and explained a scene to the doctor on the spot. It involved the climax where Ranveer Singh requires medical assistance. “That’s my moment in the film, although it’s just a brief appearance,” he noted.
Dr. Ashok shared that they nailed the shot in one take. “Dhar congratulated me on my natural performance, saying I never looked into the camera and acted just like a doctor would when treating an injured hero stepping off a plane,” he added, expressing gratitude for the friendliness of the film crew, especially Ranveer Singh and Arjun Rampal.
