As the excitement builds for the Indian Premier League (IPL) set to begin on March 28, Daniel Vettori, the head coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), has expressed his admiration for stand-in captain Ishan Kishan. Vettori highlighted Kishan’s extensive experience in the league, noting, “Ishan has been a part of the IPL for quite some time. Having played for various teams, he carries a wealth of successful experience that instills confidence in the squad.”
Kishan steps in as captain while regular leader Pat Cummins recovers from a back injury, missing the initial matches of the tournament. Vettori emphasized Kishan’s prior leadership role, where he successfully led his state team to victory in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, showcasing his capabilities.
“His leadership experience with the U19s and his state team, combined with their recent trophy win, brings a confident player and leader to the forefront. I truly believe he and Abhishek Sharma, appointed as vice-captain, will guide the team effectively this season,” Vettori remarked. The duo’s close friendship and understanding of the team dynamics are expected to be crucial as they lead SRH.
The tournament will kick off with an exciting match between last year’s champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on March 28.
