The Capitals faced an early setback when KL Rahul was dismissed for just one run off three balls. However, Pathum Nissanka steadied the innings with a solid contribution of 44 runs from 30 balls, striking six boundaries and one six. Nitish Rana’s brief stay ended without scoring, as he fell for a three-ball duck.
The real star of the match was Sameer Rizvi, who, as an Impact Player, dazzled the crowd with a magnificent 90 runs off only 51 balls, featuring seven boundaries and as many sixes. David Miller and Tristan Stubbs remained at the crease, with Miller scoring 21 runs off 18 balls, including four boundaries, and Stubbs adding three runs from four deliveries. Stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav shone with a brilliant 51 runs off 36 balls, including three boundaries and two sixes. Naman Dhir scored 28 runs from 21 balls, hitting two boundaries and a six, while Mitchell Santner and Corbin Bosch contributed 18 runs and 11 runs respectively.
For DC, Mukesh Kumar stood out with impressive figures of two wickets for just 26 runs in three overs, while Lungi Ngidi, skipper Axar Patel, Vipraj Nigam, and T. Natarajan each picked up a wicket. Notably, star spinner Kuldeep Yadav remained wicketless in this high-stakes encounter.
