In an exciting clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Axar Patel, the captain of the Delhi Capitals, won the toss and opted to bowl first against the Gujarat Titans on Wednesday. With Delhi Capitals currently in great form, having secured victories in their first two matches of the season, they will look to maintain their momentum. Star performer Sameer Rizvi has been pivotal for the team so far. On the other hand, the Gujarat Titans have faced challenges, losing both of their opening games.
Following the toss, Axar expressed his strategy: “We will bowl first. We’ve chased effectively in our last two games, and with this being a fresh wicket, there’s potential for moisture due to recent rains. Our aim is to restrict their score and then chase it down. We focus on match-ups to make things tough for the batters and select the best bowlers for the job. Same XI for us today.”
Meanwhile, the Gujarat Titans welcome back Shubman Gill, who missed the previous match due to injury. Gill shared his thoughts: “We were planning to bat first anyway. If the weather stays consistent, we shouldn’t have to deal with dew in the second innings. It’s all about assessing the conditions early on. Sai and I have been forming strong opening partnerships, so we aim for a solid powerplay to set a good total. It just takes one player to hold on till the end, whether it’s from the top or middle order. Today might just be that day. KK Kumar is out, and I’m back in. The rest of the lineup remains unchanged.”
Confirmed Playing XI for both teams:
Gujarat Titans (Playing XI): Shubman Gill(c), Sai Sudharsan, Jos Buttler(w), Washington Sundar, Glenn Phillips, Shahrukh Khan, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, Ashok Sharma.
Delhi Capitals (Playing XI): KL Rahul(w), Pathum Nissanka, Nitish Rana, Vipraj Nigam, Axar Patel(c), David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Kuldeep Yadav, Lungi Ngidi, T Natarajan, Mukesh Kumar.
