Anjum Chopra, the former Indian cricketer, expressed her strong belief that the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have what it takes to clinch the Indian Premier League (IPL) title once more. She emphasized the importance of consistency, drawing parallels with the success stories of teams like Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. RCB made headlines last season when they triumphed over Punjab Kings by a narrow six runs in the 2025 IPL final, finally ending their 18-year wait for a trophy.
Chopra remarked that making it to the playoffs is a pivotal step for RCB, and once there, they can emulate last season’s success. “Absolutely, they can achieve it. Teams like Mumbai and Chennai have done it, and RCB is capable of following suit. The key is consistent performance; the teams that reach the playoffs typically pick up right where they left off. There’s potential for a new champion, and RCB can certainly defend their title,” she stated.
Chopra also noted that this season, RCB appears more organized and balanced than ever before. With two straight wins to kick off their campaign, the team is currently positioned third on the points table, boasting four points and an impressive Net Run Rate (NRR) of +2.501. Their upcoming matches against Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians will be crucial.
“RCB is looking formidable and organized, especially as the defending champions. They’ve maintained their momentum from last season and seem even stronger this year,” she added.
Chopra also highlighted the Punjab Kings (PBKS) as a team to watch, noting their strong start after reaching the final last season. “Punjab is also in great form. Having played in the final last year, they know how to build on that experience and have begun well this season,” she concluded.
