In response to a recent security breach at a team hotel, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has implemented new guidelines for all franchises participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The Board made it clear that any violations of these protocols will not be tolerated. According to sources close to the situation, the PCB has communicated via email that players and officials must obtain prior approval—at least 24 hours in advance—before meeting with family members in the team hotel. “The Board has emphasized that anyone wishing to meet family must seek permission a day before their planned visit,” the insider revealed. Furthermore, the PCB has stated that it will strive to create a designated meeting area for players to connect with their loved ones within the hotel premises. Additionally, only a player’s immediate family—spouse, parents, siblings—will be allowed inside their rooms, again requiring 24-hour notice for clearance. Authorities have warned the Board that maintaining a secure environment for all players and officials hinges on the strict adherence of franchises to these security measures. The PCB’s security manager and anti-corruption head have also raised concerns about the breach with PSL CEO Salman Naseer. In a related incident, fast bowler Naseem Shah was fined 20 million Pakistani rupees (approximately $71,488) for a social media post criticizing Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. This sanction, considered one of the largest financial penalties in Pakistani cricket, was imposed after Shah questioned the Chief Minister’s presence at a closed-door PSL opening match amid a fuel crisis, leading to a show-cause notice from the PCB, headed by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
