Ektaa Kapoor has generously decided to donate her winnings of Rs. 1,66,000 from the reality show Wheel Of Fortune to actor Rajpal Yadav, showcasing her support during a challenging time. The moment became particularly special when Kapoor, alongside her Bhooth Bangla team members Wamiqa Gabbi and Rajpal Yadav, participated in the show. During the game, Ektaa chose to extend her winnings to Rajpal as a heartfelt gesture, which resonated with everyone present.
For those unfamiliar with the circumstances surrounding Rajpal Yadav, he has been facing legal issues related to a cheque bounce case. In 2010, he borrowed Rs 5 crore from Murli Projects Pvt Ltd to finance his directorial debut, Ata Pata Laapata. Unfortunately, the film did not perform well at the box office, leaving the loan unpaid. Subsequent bounced cheques led to a legal dispute, culminating in a conviction by a magisterial court in April 2018, where both Rajpal and his wife, Radha, were sentenced to six months in prison.
In 2024, the court urged Rajpal to show genuine efforts to repay the outstanding amount. However, by February 2026, he was found guilty of non-payment and was ordered to surrender, resulting in his time in Tihar Jail. He was later granted bail to attend a family wedding, which was extended until the next court hearing on April 1. Reports indicate that Rajpal has since paid Rs 4.5 crore to Murli Projects, with an additional Rs 25 lakh being handed over during the recent hearing.
Shifting gears to Bhooth Bangla, this upcoming film is helmed by the renowned Priyadarshan, bringing together the legendary trio of Priyadarshan, Akshay Kumar, and Paresh Rawal. The cast also features Tabu, Mithila Palkar, and Jisshu Sengupta in pivotal roles. Produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa R Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms in partnership with Akshay Kumar’s Cape of Good Films, Bhooth Bangla marks Priyadarshan’s second Hindi horror-comedy film following Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007). The screenplay is crafted by Rohan Shankar, Abilash Nair, and Priyadarshan, with dialogues penned by Rohan Shankar. Fans can look forward to its theatrical release on April 10.
