Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma recently shared his thoughts on Aditya Dhar’s much-anticipated film, Dhurandhar: The Revenge. As excitement builds for its release, with paid previews kicking off on Wednesday evening, Varma took to X after watching the film on Tuesday night to express his admiration.
In his review, Varma described Dhurandhar 2 as a cinematic experience of monumental proportions, stating, “After last night’s viewing of Dhurandhar 2, its cumulative impact in various aspects—anticipated box office success, audience enthusiasm, social relevance, and groundbreaking cinematic techniques—will elevate it to a Sholay × 100 level of brilliance. It will overshadow the finest films ever created, making classics like Mughal-e-Azam appear as mere television dramas (sic).”
He further lauded Aditya Dhar’s vision, proclaiming, “This marks the dawn of a NEW CINEMATIC ERA, signaling the ruthless end of everything that has come before in the realm of film. The term DIRECTOR will be forever redefined by adityadharfilms, and even titans like Steven Spielberg and Christopher Nolan should drop their current projects to experience Dhurandhar 2—First Day, First Show.”
Dhurandhar: The Revenge has successfully passed through the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and received an A rating, after being required to make 21 adjustments to the final cut. These modifications included adding disclaimers about violence and toning down scenes with offensive language and graphic content, such as hammer attacks, beheadings, and eye injuries. The film may also feature a subplot related to demonetisation, as indicated by the need to update a specific date.
As with its predecessor, the sequel will include a post-credits scene. The initial runtime of the submitted version was approximately 3 hours and 51 minutes, but after necessary cuts, it has been trimmed to 3 hours, 49 minutes, and 6 seconds—making it about six minutes shorter than the overseas cut and roughly 15 minutes longer than the first installment, which ran for 3 hours and 34 minutes.
