As anticipation builds for the premiere of Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, fans in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana are facing disappointment. Paid preview screenings in Tamil and Telugu have been abruptly canceled just hours before their showtimes, with the original Hindi version taking their place. Refunds are being processed for ticket holders, as confirmed by exhibitors.
The last-minute cancellations were reportedly due to the unavailability of the regional language versions. Broadway Cinemas in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, announced the change via a post on X, noting that the Tamil previews, initially set for 5:30 PM on Wednesday, had to be scrapped because the content was not ready. The cinema chain added that Hindi previews would now be shown instead and apologized for the inconvenience caused.
According to sources, the delay was linked to issues in delivering the film to theaters. The Hindi version of ‘Dhurandhar 2’ was only received by cinemas an hour prior, while subtitles for the regional versions were still pending. The dubbing process for the Tamil and Telugu films has yet to be completed, making it impossible to screen them as planned.
As ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ approaches its grand release on Thursday, director Aditya Dhar has urged fans to avoid sharing spoilers to preserve the experience for all viewers. On his official Instagram, Dhar expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support shown to ‘Dhurandhar’, stating, “To my dearest, most extraordinary Dhurandhar family… Your love and appreciation for our film have been incredibly humbling.”
Dhar emphasized the film’s intention to surprise audiences, saying, “We aimed to evoke emotions you weren’t prepared for. It’s a challenging task, but we did our utmost for you.” He passionately encouraged everyone to experience the film in theaters, where the emotional journey can be fully appreciated among family, friends, and fellow viewers.
In closing, the filmmaker made a heartfelt request: “Please don’t share any spoilers!” He hopes every fan can walk into the theater curious and exit with their own unique perspective on the film.
