Gujarat Titans’ captain Shubman Gill is set to make his return to the playing XI for the upcoming match against the Delhi Capitals. The two teams are set to face off at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday, as GT seeks their first victory of the IPL 2026 season.
Gill’s absence during the Titans’ recent encounter with the Rajasthan Royals on April 4 due to a muscular spasm was a significant setback for the team. In his absence, Rashid Khan stepped in as captain.
Ahead of the GT vs. DC showdown, Sai Sudharsan reassured fans during the pre-match press conference that Shubman is in great shape. “Shubman has no problem; he is completely fine. He will be ready to go,” Sudharsan said on Tuesday.
Additionally, Gill was seen practicing in the nets, further indicating his readiness for the match.
The Gujarat Titans have had a rocky start to their IPL campaign, currently without a win after losing both of their opening matches. They fell to the Punjab Kings in their season opener, followed by another defeat against the Rajasthan Royals.
Reflecting on these challenges, Sudharsan emphasized that the team has gained valuable insights from their early setbacks and is determined to channel those lessons into securing their first win of the season. “We look back on these two games, and we have learned a lot for sure. Our focus is on getting that first victory and regaining our momentum,” he stated.
As it stands, the Gujarat Titans find themselves in ninth place in the IPL 2026 standings, still searching for their first points with a Net Run Rate (NRR) of -0.424. They are among the two teams yet to score any points this season, alongside the Chennai Super Kings, who have experienced three consecutive losses.
The Titans are looking to turn things around against the Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
